Yes, I recall analyzing it in the laboratory back then. If I recall correctly, it contained PAO plus two POEs, TMP C7 and PE C7. That was replaced later by one POE, TMP C8C10, and around 1980 they switched to a diester, DTDA.

But initially, as far as I know, it didn't include group V? And there was a problem with the maintenance of combustion by-products, additives with a polar molecule structure and VMs, etc.

I doubt it was ever based entirely on PAO. It would need some level of a polar base oil to dissolve additives and pass the elastomer specifications. The earliest samples I saw had POE.

@TomNJ, could you say something about oils used to lubrication of turboshaft engines (General Electric T700) used for example in Black Hawk helicopters, which flying since 2 months under my head ;)

[USER = 1304] @TomNJ [/ USER] have you personally used this oil?
I did not use the original Mobil 1 oils. I started using Mobil 1 5W-30 in 1999 and continue to use it today in all of my vehicle.

These engines use a POE based synthetic oil meeting either MIL-PRF-23699 or MIL-PRF-7808 specifications. Both contain about 95% POE plus anti-oxidants, anti-wear, and anti-corrosion additives. These oils are very light, equivalent to a 0W-8 or less. I formulated and sold these oils for many years. Here is a data sheet for a typical 23699 oil:
